“Who am I?” is one of the enduring issues for any human being to address.
Jesus startled the disciples when he appeared in the assembly in Jerusalem; “It’s me” was his message. But he now had a new dimension to his identity – “Look at my hands and feet, and see that it is I myself.” (Luke 24:39) Only one person had hands and feet with nail-prints and wounds that distinguished him from all others … wounds that were marks of suffering and glory. His identity was the same.
Believe in the risen Christ. Believe too that this continuity of identity will be a hallmark of the afterlife. It means that you will see and recognise your loved ones, and they will know you!
